Post Match Comments:
Newcastle manager Alan Shearer said:

"You want substitutes to try to change the game and have an influence and I thought that's what they did. We were far better in the second-half and Steve Harper has not had an awful lot to do.

We created a few chances and maybe could have had a penalty. But it wasn't to be and we must now look to the next game which is Portsmouth.

We have to try to get them (Viduka & Martins) through training this week and see if they're available for the Portsmouth.

I hope they will play a big part and they've had no reaction against Spurs which is encouraging.

The one positive is the second half - we did a lot better.

We had to start with three at the back. It worked against Stoke (when Newcastle drew 1-1) but we struggled in the first half today."

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp:
"It was a good win and another clean sheet. We had opportunities to score more but I was pleased - our defensive record is incredible. You win 1-0 and that's what good teams do."

  Match Report:
Newcastle United lost 0-1 away to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

A 24th minute Darren Bent goal was enough for Spurs to claim all three points.

We all watched the game (thanks to the friendly Sunday night kick off time) so we all know how bad things were and how desperate our position is.

Therefore, with a massive 5 games left I have decided to save my writing energy for the important coming weeks so instead of a depressing match report I Googled 'depressing' and picked an image...

A picture is worth a thousand words!
