Post Match Comments:
Bolton manager Gary Megson:

"From West Brom at the bottom to eighth from top, no-one can say 'we're going to be ok next year'.

"We're in the same boat as we were before Newcastle but it's so tight.

"We are in transition. I've never been at a club where so much is needed at such a short space of time."

Newcastle assistant coach Chris Hughton:
"On the balance of play, on chances, I think we were the better side.

"We just had that lax period early in the second half and they scored.

"We've got to bounce back and there was enough in the performance to say that we can. We'll look forward to the next game and try to get something from it."

  Match Report:
Another trip to the North-West and another defeat for Newcastle United, as a 47 minute Ricardo Gardner goal is enough to give all three points to Bolton Wanderers.

As there was no Australian TV coverage on offer (which may I say was a poor by Foxsports the sooner they create a dedicated Fox Football Channel the better in my opinion) Aussie Mags had to scramble between dodgy Asian feeds or wait for website text updates, making it difficult to give an accurate match report.

However, the fact remains Newcastle lost and again lacked any real plan or forward purpose.

There appears to be a somewhat deluded view within the walls of St James’ Park that everything is going to all right this season.  Derek Llambias recent comments about us achieving 46 points are naïve at best, and Chris Hughton post game comments about us being the better side and that there was enough in the performance to bounce back in the next game, are staggering to say the least.  Which Man Utd has he been watching of late!

With Middlesbrough and Blackburn both recording victories, and Stoke earning a valuable draw, Newcastle are only 2 point above the relegation zone after this defeat.  There are eleven games left, and we desperately need to find some wins from somewhere.

Next up for Newcastle United?  Only the current league leaders, and this season’s FA Community Shield, World Club Cup and Carling Cup winners.  God help us!!
