Newcastle captain Michael Owen:
|
| |
"Whatever the events of the past couple of
weeks off the field, all the players here are proper professionals, we
are all paid to do a job, and we have to go out and continue to do that
job.
"The only thing the players can do is
play to their best and get good results for the club, and we have to
focus on doing that.
"We are all in it together, we all have
to pull together and we all want the best for this football club."

Match Preview: |
| |
Caretaker Newcastle boss
Chris Hughton is likely to be without Habib Beye (Achilles), while Jonas
Gutierrez is also a doub tand
Joey Barton serves the first match of a
six game ban.
Damien Duff (knee), Mark Viduka
(Achilles)
and Obafemi Martins (groin)
all remain sidelined, while Andy Carroll and
Kazenga
LuaLua are all back
in some level of training but are yet to play any games since their
respective injuries.
George Boateng and Anthony Gardner are expected to return for Hull. New
loan signings Kamil Zayatte and Paul McShane are in contention, but
Daniel Cousin is suspended.
It has been well documented of the details of a march by boycotting
Newcastle supporters and those intending to enter SJP after kick-off on
Saturday as follows:
Meet opposite Tilleys Bar on Westgate Road for a 3pm march
to SJP (Shearer's). Further details/signup
here.
And for those who wish to vent their feelings before kick-off, there
promises to be a gathering outside Old Milburn Reception from
2pm.
Presumably there's no reason why the Tilleys folk can't also be outside
the Milburn at 2pm as well.
The downturn in revenue caused by boycotts of club merchandise and SJP
food and drink outlets including Shearer's has already been
noticed and remains a legitimate avenue of demonstrating disaffection.
And on a wider scale, boycotts of other businesses owned by Mike
Ashley, including Sports Direct and Lillywhites continue. For a list of
the numerous other companies and brands under the Sports Direct banner
Whether are not Kevin Keegan does return to the football club or not
remains to be seem, but the most important fact, regardless of your
feeling towards to the current owners, is that Newcastle United must try
and be helped to get 3 points in this game. |

Did you know?

A rather shit one this time, but your writer of this match preview had
his first and only experience of being on the SJP pitch following an end
of season pitch evasion
when
we lost 1-2 to Hull on the last day of the 1990/1991 season. |
