  Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder said:
"If people are honest with themselves they did not expect that to happen today.  I believe it was only inside our dressing room that we believed we could come here and win. People have looked at us and thought, at times away from home, we're not hard enough. That gave them the motivation to come out fighting."

  Match Report:

Taylor and Milner celebrate the winner in front of the Newcastle fans.

As I was going to Lakes Entrance for the long Easter weekend, I knew there would be no chance of me catching this game on the radio or via any internet streams which might be out there. So the sad fact that I felt relaxed about this, sums up perfectly where our season has ended up.

For this game I was hoping for (at best) a slightly more committed performance which would result in a draw. Far enough I would have thought, I'll take that considering the way we were playing and our away record this season.

However, in typical Newcastle United fashion except the unexpected, BANG WHAT THE!?! We find ourselves getting an away win with, by all accounts, a much more positive and committed Newcastle United side. Well would you believe it eh?

A reshaped Newcastle United side which saw Roeder finally realising Solano and Milner are our current best partnership down the right hand side and Sibierski starting upfront in place of the recently ineffective Dyer.

Our goals came from Martin(17) and Taylor(80) but we still required to come from behind after Christian Nade(74) levelled for the home side and Shay Given was his usual self making some vital saves, most notably deep into injury time.

Overall a much needed victory to ease the gloom ever so slightly and with a quick look at the table, we find ourselves up to 10th place on 40 points thanks to some favourable results. Europe anyone? Ok I'm kidding...
