  Match Report:
Well that was the usual Anfield away performance, never really looking like getting in the game, never mind winning it.

First half Liverpool were very poor and we were able to comfortably contain them, however, we didn't exactly pose must threat up front either. We seemed to panic when we got the ball and if their wasn't an easy pass on, we'd simply just play the long ball down field.

Liverpool created one excellent chance in the first half and bang 1-0. At that point I was pretty certain it was game over, I always felt our only chance to win the game was to score first ourselves.

I do have to question Emre's contribution in away games mind. A fantastic talent that he may be but we really can't afford to carry a luxury player in the centre of midfield away from home. I'd prefer to see Charles N'Zogbia or Nicky Butt in their myself.

Second half started much better and we got forward with more purpose. We had 2 or 3 good penalty appeals turned down and on another day we should have had got one of them. However, I don't feel to aggrieved, as Babayaro slapped Kuyt in the face in the first half and we handled the ball ourselves in the box in the second half, both of which should have been penalties.

15 minutes to go and a wonder strike from inside his own half by Xabi Alonso finished the game off. Steve Harper should be extremely disappointed with himself, as no goalkeeper worth his salt should be beaten from that far out, very poor indeed sadly.

Liverpool had a few more decent chances to make it 3-0 and Craig Bellamy missed a one on one with Harper when he should have scored.

All in all no real surprises in the result or the performance. Let's move on from this and start picking up some points at home, starting this Sunday against Everton.
