Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder
said:
"Nicky has been brilliant for us this year and I will be the last person
to criticize him. It wasn't on purpose, it's just one of those things. I
thought we shaded the first half but gave them a goal and from that
point on we were very much on the back foot. We didn't get service in to
Obafemi Martins and Kieron Dyer at all."

Match Report: |
|
| |
This weekend I travelled to London for the
first time. To be honest my expectations were pretty low, surprising for
some but for some reason the I was just excited to go watch the Toon.
Brett and I left at about 6.30am Saturday morning to get the train. It
was one of those high speed overland trains, took about three and a half
hours to get to there. On the way it was really foggy and saw my first
snow covered fields, which was something special in itself really.

Onyewu makes his debut

Arrived at London Eusten at about
11am and took the underground to London Bridge. The crowds were
so big at Euston that they let us all through and told us to pay
at our destination. The security guard on the barrier at London
Bridge let us through for free, so it was already a good start.
The city itself is amazing. The old architecture mixed with
modern ground breaking designs puts a nice spin on the city.
After dumping our bags in the hostel we jumped on the tube out
to Putney.
We arrived at Putney with a whole bunch of people, mostly
dressed in black and white. Brett mentioned that he hadn’t seen
a Fulham fan yet! I met up with Dave (Row 'S' Army's Mate) at
the station. He didn’t have any trouble finding me as I was
wearing my beanie like usual. We went back to the pub where we
met a couple more of his mates and had a pint. Daves a legend.
Sorted us with tickets and pretty much looked after me as I
wouldn’t have had a clue what direction the ground was in
anyway! |

The walk there was really good, plenty of
black n white and people singing the Blaydon races etc. Sunny day and a
nice stroll along the river made it perfect. If only the match was as
good as the day itself! The atmostphere was pretty good, the home
section was like a graveyard until they scored the first goal. In the
end it didn’t matter what the score was, I was always going to be happy
to just be there. After the match we went back to a couple of pubs for a
few more drinks. Was good to have a chat about anything and everything,
including the football. Brett continued his trend of stealing glasses. I
think he’s made it a hobby so he doesn’t have to spend lots on
souvineers for people hahaha
Saturday night we went into the city centre (cant actually remember
where we were, one of the big squares) and it was packed. Like walking
down rundle mall in peak hour except it was 1am. The cheapest Pints we
could find were about 3 pounds (about 7.50AUD!!) and the cheapest door
fee on a nightclub we could find was £10 ($25 bucks!). Pretty safe to
say the nightlife here is expensive as hell.
