Match Preview:

As this is the last game of the season it’s probably appropriate to do some sort of end of season review but because there isn’t many positives to say about the players, I thought we'd do an Aussie Mags team review instead.

Aussie Mags celebrates completing its inaugural season with this game and what a year it’s been. Starting from nothing we have now have over 70 members, who have posted over 7,200 posts but how have the main players performed?

Rogue Pieman
Every team needs it’s home grown talent and Pieman was born in Gateshead and still lives in Gateshead, now you can’t get more home grown than that. As well as fending off porn attacks on the forum, Pieman is our man at the home matches and he has produced some fantastically funny match reports despite watching some dross at times. A great first season but everyone knows the 2nd season can prove to be most difficult, so Pieman will be out to prove his qualities.

Newckie
Every team needs it’s experience also and this lad has experience in abundance (if you don’t believe me, check out the number candles on his birthday cake) but that doesn’t stop him mixing it with the young ins and indulging in some of life’s pleasures. He proved this in spectacular fashion by being a
warded the honour of "The most obscure association and random post ever" but with over 600 posts and one of the chat room regulars, he’s very vocal on all things Toon. Good first year and has proved a valuable signing.

Dave

There is nothing this guy hasn’t seen or done before, a foot soldier of the Toon Army for well over a decade, Dave has racked up more games than most people have had hot dinners. If he’s not at the match, he’s in the chat room where his opinions are well valued. However, with only 260 posts on the forum he’s more of a silent observer who adds his view when he feels appropriate. Solid first season but more influence on the team is expected next season.

Ausgarth
Another one of the old men of the side, with over 35 years supporting experience, Garth is originally from Tassie but is now flying the Black & White flag over in Canada. Currently ranked 4th on the total posts ladder, so he has a view on every subject. His love of foreign and especially, Spanish football, has led to him leading the calls for a fair go for Albert Luque and a more foreign influence in the backroom staff. He has certainly moved with the times and his forward thinking with regards the modern game brings a real benefit to the team. Good first year and key figure.

Phil
With over 650 posts this young lad is going to be key member of the team for years to come hopefully. He has gained vital experience over in England this year, going to his first game at St James’ Park and joining the away ranks on numerous occasions. Great first season and with his new found experience he should come back better and stronger next season.

Geordie
Mr consistent in the team, he’s in the chat room almost every week and has racked up over 400 posts on the forum. A Geordie who moved to Sydney via Perth, this lad goes about his business with grace and style. A fine contribution in his first season and has now firmly established himself as first team regular.

DjBigK
He arrived mid season and has proved an excellent acquisition. He is always up for a good debate and has some strong views on all things Newcastle. Over 400 posts in half a season is no mean feat and with also being a chat room regular, he has turned into the surprise package of the season. Excellent first season and he should only improve after his first pre-season with the club.

9nufc9
A young lad with an old head on his shoulders, this lad is the future of the club. He may only be 17 years old but he has enough Newcastle scars to have proved his worth. He is way out in 2nd place on the posts ladder and a regular in the chat room, meaning he is already a vital cog in the team. Excellent first season and more of the same will be hoped next but at the same time he must be protected from burn out.

Geordie_442
The player without doubt the most experienced in the side, he can remember the Fairs Cup win for god sake! Geordie is well liked among his team mates, an ex-RAF man who now lives exiled away from his native Newcastle in the Midlands. He is still an away game regular but when he’s not at the game you’ll usual find him in the chat room waxing lyrical with the lads. His profile lists his interests as
Toon, Beer & Darts’ and I think that sums up Geordie perfectly. A key team member, who has never let the team down at any stage this season.

KrisMassive
A key component of the team but his season had been dogged by various spells on the side lines. Our loveable Jock, Kris has raked up over 400 posts but has hardly been seen on the field in recent months. Other players have stepped up and filled the gap admirably but any team without KrisMassive is going to be at a disadvantage. Hopefully we’ll see him more on the field next season where he can prove his true value to the team.

GusGeee
He had a run in with the manager earlier in the season which showed his passion for the club and his zero tolerance approach towards people who are a negative influence. He brings years of experience to the club and has been through the good and the bad times. You will find in the chat room most games where his passion really comes across. Only 160 odd posts on the forum but when he speaks you listen. A good signing who will hopefully influence the team even more next season.

Special mention to the other members of the squad who have played their part this season, thanks to Pollock, Rajiy, BlueGeordie, mk1, monster_al and to everyone else who has posted this season. Looking forward to seeing you all back for pre-season training.

Hope to see you all in the Match Day Chat Room on Sunday night for the end of season party, or should I say wake!!

HOWAY THE LADS!!!

  Did you know?
- Watford's record league win was on 25th September 1982 when they were in the old Division, on that day they thrashed Sunderland 8-0.
