PIEMAN'S LEASES VIEW
Barclays Premiership - Newcastle Utd 1v3 Liverpool
Sunday 20th March 2006

Well that was a game where the team that wanted to win the most won. We left them acres of space to run into and making not much effort to close them down when the had the ball. This was either down to respect, fear or a ref that was too eager to give Liverpool a free kick when we went anywhere near them.

When they had the ball there was always 5 or 6 other Liverpool players in our half to mix it up. When we attacked, especially in the first half, there was only 2 or 3 players in support. Liverpool where a class act. Some of their long passing was great to watch. They had more to their game and, at the end of the day, the best team won.

The spindly chip had threatened our back four in the air a couple of times before scoring. I thought putting Baba (the smallest man on the pitch) up against him was a touch of genius .

The defence was canny sh*te all game. They gave Gerrard far too much space in the box for his goal, it was like everyone was frightened to get a challenge in. Cisse is a tw*t. Thought I'd just get that in. Woo hoo, you scored a pen. Jolly f'ing dee. If you weren't so sh*te then Livepool wouldn't have had to buy Fowler. AND Kewell get a hair cut. Having a Rodney Trotter might be the thing in Oz but it's not here Divint be coming back over here in November with one of those Row S or much piss taking will ensue.

A swift run down on the Toon players.

Shay Given - Had nowt to do in the first except pick the ball out the net. Made a couple of good saves in the second half. Dived the wrong way for the pen.
Peter Ramage - Over rated. Kewell made his life a mare. All Liverpool's goals came from players coming in from his side. He was just crap.
Celestine Babayaro - Not many forward runs today, though he picked his game up a bit when Emre moved to the left to take Zogs place.
Jean-Alain Boumsong - Got sent off (though it's possible Elliot was last man back according to some of the lads I go to the game with), some of the blame for putting him in the position had to go to...
Robbie Elliott - Looked more comfortable when Boom got sent off!?!?!

Nobby Solano - Quiet all game. While Ramage is behind him he's going to get nowt done coz he'll spend his time covering for Ramages general shiteness. His set plays wheren't up to his usual standard.
Scott Parker - Another solid game, but Liverpool played round him.
Emre - Was hot and cold when playing in the middle. Moved to the left when Zogs hobbled off and seem to improve. Was subbed at the end of the second half, walked off at the far side and made his way round to the bench a bit gingerly. Hope he was just worn out and not injured.
Charles N'Zogbia - Limped out first half.

Shola Ameobi - Managed to slip his man to score an easy goal. Did very little else Please, somebody, give him first touch classes.
Alan Shearer - Should have scored, but spooned it. That was the only chance he had. Liverpool's back four forced him to play closer to his midfield. Should have had a free kick but ref ignored his shouts, the ball went down the other end and Gerrard scored. Summed up the Toons afternoon.

Subs.
Lee Bowyer - Had one of his better games, he must have treatened to kick the sh*te out of any oppo players that went near him coz he seemed to get more space than the rest of our lot.
Kieron Dyer - Someone give him some first touch classes as well...
Lee Clark - Came on late. Didn't have a chance to do out.

Man of the match: Mike Riley. For micro managing the first half to death and letting Liverpool get away with murder.
