"There will be bad times to come, I am sure,
but we have shown a lot of resilience and that is the mark of any side
which is doing well, that resilience resulting in clean sheets. I am
absolutely delighted with that.
"What we do know is we are going to
have good days and bad days, and what we have so far shown is a
resilience to cope with the bad days and, at times, get something from
them.
"There are times when you can't speak
highly enough of the group of lads you have, and that applies today.
“It was a wonderful goal (from Pancrate)
and a wonderful time to score. Watford were certainly putting us under
pressure and probing with their extra player, and we had to have an
outlet.
“Fabrice turned out to
be a good enough outlet and scored a super goal. He hadn’t played too
many games this season, but we knew he came fit and free of injury.
“He’s certainly excited
the crowd in the periods he’s come on, and the next step for him is to
start games.
“We’ve no complaints on
the second booking – although it certainly looked worse than it was, but
there are complaints on the first one, which I didn’t think was a
booking.
“It was a scrap. We
were up against a good Watford side with a lot of young players and
energy, but I can’t speak highly enough of this group of lads.
“That’s 11 clean sheets
now, and if I look at what we’ve managed to achieve so far this season,
that one has to be very high up.”
Watford
boss Malky Mackay:
“Yes it is our second defeat in
a row but I think you take that result and you look at the game today
and you look at the performance of my team today, we deserved something
from the game.
“I think if they go into games with
that sort of confidence and belief in their ability and play the way
they did and be competitive and create the chances we did, then we will
win more than we lose this season and it gives me great faith and I hope
it gives our travelling fans faith.
“You look up there and there was a
great amount of fans from Watford and I do understand it is Christmas
time and money is short and people have made a long journey up there.
“Great credit to them and I would have
loved to have scored for them today but at the same time, I am delighted
they came and supported us and I hope the performance they saw and the
effort that the boys put in, just helps the journey back again.”
If we play like that we will win more
games than we lose. I was disappointed but we had enough chances to get
something from the game. That's being clinical and, at times, that's
maybe the difference. Their guy gets a chance with a couple of minutes
to go and puts the ball in the top corner, but that's where we are at
and that's the group we have got."
