  Pre-game comments:
  Newcastle goalkeeper Stephen Harper said:
"It was nice to get the plaudits after Sheff United but that's my job and that's what I'm there for.

Although, I'm hoping it's the lads up front who get the headlines on Saturday!

Monday night was a very big win for us and it's great to be back top. The past two wins, Doncaster and Sheff United, have been massive for us, especially after the criticism following the defeats at Notts Forest and Scunthorpe.

We're back at St.James' on Saturday and it's vitally important we get a win. A lot of the other teams up the top play each other so we're hoping there'll be a few draws in there.

If we get a win then we can hopefully put a bit of daylight between us and a few others. If we do then we can go into a well-earned two-week break."

  Team News:
Steven Taylor looks set to return  to the squad after a three-week hamstring layoff.  As done Peter Lovenkrands who the Sheffield United because of family reasons.

Zurab Khizanishvili, sent off during the 2-1 win over Doncaster, serves the second of his three-game suspension.

Shola Ameobi (ankle), Joey Barton (foot) and youngster Haris Vuckic (foot) are on the casualty list.

For Peterborough, striker Craig Mackail-Smith (hamstring) is missing, but keeper Joe Lewis returns from suspension.

Match Preview:

2nd bottom Peterborough United travel to St James' Park (there will be no mention of a certain cheap sports store here!) to face top of the table Newcastle United in this Coca-Cola Championship fixture.

Newcastle has snapped its recent run of 5 games without a win, to record victories in its last two games against Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield United.

While Peterborough have only managed 1 win in five, including a potentially crucial home lose to bottom of the league Barnsley in their last game.

Following the recent controversial club statements by the board of Newcastle, club owner Mike Ashley has ignored the massive public outcry to leave St James' Park alone, and has renamed (or is that re-branded?) the stadium to now have his tacky sports store in the title.

This will surely fuel the fire even further for the Toon Army who were already coming into this game under of cloud of public protests and angry.  The calls for Mike Ashley to 'Get out of our club' will no doubt be stronger, and in unison, than ever before.

What effect this will have on the players is yet to be seen, but this group of players does seem a lot more resilient than the bunch that crumbled at home to Hull City the week after Kevin Keegan left the club last year.

One thing is for certain, Mike Ashley will not be going anyone until his receives the money he thinks he deserves, so a Mexican stand off between both parties looks to be the status quo for the foreseeable future.

So lets hope whilst all this is going on the the team can keep on winning, and stay in contention near the top of the league, because for once the fans have every right to not back down on this until Mike Ashley has left the club.

  Did you know?
- If the St James' Park crowd is over
36,478 then this fixture will be the highest attendance ever to watch a Peterborough United league game, beating the previous set away to Crystal Palace in 1960.
