Match Preview:

Newcastle United travel down to the capital this weekend looking to maintain their unbeaten record this season as the take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Following on from two home victories against Reading and Sheff Wed this week, Newcastle will take plenty of confidence into the game, especially Shola Ameobi who has scored 4 goals in those games.

The Shola and Andy Carroll strike partnership may however be broken up if Carroll doesn't recover in time for Saturday.

If that does occur, that leaves caretaker manager Chris Hughton with couple of options. A straight swap of Xisco for Carroll, or with it being an away game, he may bring Danny Guthrie into midfield and push Kevin Nolan in behind Shola. Young prospect Nile Ranger could come be in the reckoning also, but at this moment in time you'd think it's too early for him to start.

Following his debut in midweek Danny Simpson is expected to retain his place at right-back with the impressive Ryan Taylor continuing in wide right role.

Crystal Palace have had a mixed start to the season. The opened the season with a home draw with Plymouth, then a unconvincing home win over Torquay in the Carling Cup, followed by an away defeat to Bristol City and then an impressive away win over Ipswich Town.

One Eagles player who is in form is former Magpie Darren Ambrose.  Ambrose already has 4 goals to his name and no doubt he will love to add to that tally against his former employers.

Newcastle have a good recent record in games away to Crystal Palace. In their three Premier League meetings Newcastle have won all three.  In 1994-95 won 1-0 curtsey of a quality late Peter Beardsley strike, then in 1997-98 won 2-1 which included a rare Jon-Dahl Tomasson goal, and finally in 2004-05 won 2-0 with goals from Patrick Kluivert and Craig Bellamy.

Backed by yet another full away end, Newcastle will fancy their chances in this game, but their main treat to victory could be Palace goalkeeper
Julián Speroni who has won player of year for the last 2 seasons.

So can the Toon continue this good start to the season?
