Match Preview:

Newcastle United travel to Blackpool for their first league game at Bloomfield Road since April 1971.

Blackpool have looked solid under manager Ian Holloway, who joined the club in May, but suffered their first defeat of his reign on Saturday, losing 2-1 against his former club Leicester City. They current lie in 13th place with 1 win, 4 draws, and 1 defeat.

The Tangerines broke their transfer record to sign Scottish international Charlie Adam, 23, from Glasgow Rangers this summer.  A skilful midfielder, Adam enjoyed a successful loan spell at Blackpool last season before making his move permanent for £500,000.  Adam has scored twice already this season, and will be the man to watch for Newcastle.

Experience for Blackpool comes in the form of Jason Euell, 32, the Jamaican international midfielder who enjoyed a successful time at Wimbledon, before spells with Charlton, Middlesboro and Southampton, and striker Brett Omerod, 32, who started his career at Blackpool scoring 62 goals before a £1.75m move to Southampton in 2001, but has now moved back to Bloomfield Road.

For Newcastle Nicky Butt is set to replace the suspended Alan Smith in a like for like change in midfield, while the fit again Andy Carroll may start to provide extra support upfront for Nile Ranger.
